How to turn a seed into a tree

“When you adopt a plant, you and your tree become friends for a lifetime, growing old together – year by year.” - ABC

  1. Collect seeds - here’s a list of places you can collect seeds from.
  2. Select an area where you would plant the seed – try to choose an open area that is easily accessible and near you – this way you would be able to watch over the little seed, helping it grow into a tree! This area should be away from building sites and other kinds of obstructions.
  3. Dig Out – dig a hole into the ground. Even out the area so that’s its aerated enough for the seed to grow into a healthy plant.
  4. Plant the seed – this is the most important step, of course! The method of planting a seed depends on its size. If the seeds are tiny, just sprinkle them across the area. If the seeds are bigger, this is what you need to do:
    • Dig a little into the ground.
    • Safely put a seed inside.
    • Cover it back with mud.
    • If you want to plant more seeds by its side – make sure you leave enough space between any two seeds. This allows space for the roots to grow.
  5. Water the planted seed using your hand–You don’t want to over-water your plants. Let water pass over your hands before it reaches the planted seed.
  6. Regularly water and feed the plant –regularly water the plant, provide manure when need be and weed out unwanted growth whenever you notice it.
