CLIMATE SOLVER+ : BRINGING INNOVATION TO THE FOREFRONT THROUGH REGIONAL WORKSHOPS

As part of the expanded Climate Solver + initiative this year, WWF-India reached out to a large pool of SMEs in the southern and western regions of the country. Two regional workshops were held in Pune and Chennai to enhance networking amongst SMEs and other stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem, as well as facilitate finance/business support opportunities for the SMEs.

WWF-India partnered with The Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) and, The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE Chennai) for the Chennai workshop,  and with Laghu Udyog Bharati for the Pune one.

The workshops witnessed participation of representatives from the SMEs, government, incubation centres, universities, foundations, venture capitalists, financial institutions, industry associations and other relevant stakeholders in the clean energy space.
 
Highlights of the workshops: 
  • Reached out to over 150 cleantech SMEs to showcase WWF’s climate innovation platform.
  • Experience sharing from the past Climate Solver awardees.
  • Insights from the experts on the latest happenings in the clean energy space.
  • Networking amongst SMEs and other stakeholders in the cleantech ecosystem.

6th EDITION  - CLIMATE SOLVER NOMINATIONS

The nomination process for the 6th edition of Climate Solver Awards closed on 10th March 2018 and received applications from across the country. They are currently under screening and evaluation. Apart from the adjudged awardees, select SMEs will also be provided third party business development support under the expanded initiative.

WWF-INDIA INKS PACT WITH ISB DLABS FOR NURTURING CLIMATE SOLVER SMEs TO SCALE UP INNOVATION

WWF-India and D Labs Incubator Association, the incubation and acceleration arm of Indian School of Business (ISB) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in providing business development support to a select group of SME innovators under the Climate Solver initiative.

This would include a detailed business development support for 5 SMEs over a period of 6 months to develop holistic business plans to address finance, technology, market penetration, and capacity needs and, facilitate a larger group of upto 25 SMEs with broader generic capacity development support such as networking with other ecosystem stakeholders, including finance community; exposure to mentoring sessions, webinars/knowledge sharing and information support on clean energy innovation ecosystem.

The Climate Solver 2016 applicants would be considered for the 1st edition of this programme, which would commence from mid April this year. Keep watching this space for more details.

 
CLIMATE SOLVER CATCH-UP
 
WWF-India's Climate Solver Awardee 2016- Atomberg Technologies has partnered up with Tata Power and Reliance Energy to bring energy-efficient fans to consumers at a fraction of their traditional retail price.

MIF awards is a biennial platform that identifies and awards innovations that hold potential to generate large scale impact.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR CLIMATE INNOVATORS

Applications are open for the Youth Climate Leaders (YCL) program. The exchange program aims at empowering a diverse group of young leaders from all over the world with leadership and entrepreneurial skills to be used right now to address climate change.Read more.

PARTNERS' CORNER
 
The Festival of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (FINE) was organised in association with Department of Science and Technology and  National Innovation Foundation from 19th - 23rd March 2018 at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi . It was inaugurated by the President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, who also presented the Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Awards. FINE is an initiative to recognise, respect, showcase, reward innovations and to foster a supportive ecosystem for innovators. Applications are open for National Innovation Foundation’s 11th National Biennial Competition for Green Grassroots Unaided Technological Innovations, Ideas & Outstanding Traditional Knowledge. This initiative is open to applications from varied sectors including energy, transportation, low cost sustainable green technologies, etc. Apply here.
 


The fifth edition of The Economic Times Power of Ideas , presented by Facebook, and partnered by the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India and the Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), IIM Ahmedabad concluded, and the winners were announced on 26th March 2018.
